Everyone gets spots and zits the same way but this acne comes in many different shapes and sizes and your bodies reaction is different than the next persons. Note that every persons acne starts at the beginning with an enlarged hair follicle plugged with oil and bacteria. When the right conditions present themselves it grows into an inflamed lesion.

Acne is largely caused by our natural skin oils clogging the pores of our skin and then a natural bacteria, which thrives on skin oils, causes the infections which results in acne As time passes your body will produce more and more oil meanwhile at the same time the trapped bacterias’ numbers are growing and growing.

Your skin becomes more inflamed!

Do you have a papule or a pustule?

A papule is the beginning or mildest form of inflammatory acne and it look like a little pink spot that feels tough but could be a little painful to the touch. Never squeeze a papule or you could get an acne scaring.

The danger of a papule is that it’s like a road side bomb.

A papule can leave an impaction behind when it has cleared up that can flare up repeatedly over time. Don’t worry if this happens as you can find a medical man like a dermatologist and he can inject you with cortisone. This injection will prevent scarring and that ugly redness around the papule.

How do you treat a papule?

As papules are benign lesions that you can have removed surgically. If that seems a little extreme then you can try an over the counter medication like benzoyl peroxide, which is like an antibacterial agent and will dry out the skin a little. How do you prevent a papule?

1. Drink 2 cups water with every meal 2. Wash your face twice a day with a non-perfumed soap 3. Pat dry with a clean towel. Make sure you also wash after some exercise or if you feel dirty. Don’t over wash as you will wash off the oils your skin needs and that can lead to other issues.

If it’s not a papule then it must be a pustule.

Four: Drink lots of clean water consistently all through the day. Avoid those cans full of sugar and chemicals as well as those caffeinated hot drinks called coffee or tea as they are not good for you or your acne.

Five: Detox your liver it only takes fourteen days. You can clean out your liver by putting a large tablespoon of olive oil and around half a cup of lemon juice in a tall glass of cold water each and every day.

Six: Reduce you stress because we all know that an increase in stress causes acne as well as other negatives for your health. So exercise and take some time to meditate or sign up for a yoga class etc. If nothing else once a day take some time to put a couple of used teabags over your eyes and lay down for twenty minutes and listen to your breathing; you will love it and it will reduce your stress.

Seven: Do not cover up your spots with makeup. Avoid penetrating oils and sweet smelling Fragrance products as these can cause major allergic and irritant reactions on your face. If you must put on some makeup then pick products labeled as “fragrance-free” or “hypo-allergenic.”

It has been said that ‘growing taller after puberty is impossible’! Or is it?

The very first step you need to take is, try to be more conscious about the way you stand, walk, sit and sleep. Sleep posture is very important and can actually damage your posture. As soon as you correct your posture, I guarantee you will feel and look different. It’s known that good posture can actually make you feel and look taller.

From my personal experience, I grew a little over an inch after I corrected my posture alone, and that was in two weeks!! you will see your actual height right after you correct your posture, you will be amazed.

Nutrition: Healthy diet is essential to your overall health, your body needs a constant intake of vitamins and minerals to repair, build up and most importantly release ‘human growth hormone’. Human growth hormone is responsible for your height and your overall growth.. Long ago scientists thought human growth hormone stops after puberty, but actually it never stops, only slows down with age, therefore good food is really helpful; it gives growth hormone a good boost. Also good nutrition prevents cartilage loss, cartilage acts like a cushion between the joints, cartilage loss can cause the bones to rub against each other and may cause further complications.

Growing taller is truly easy and can be achieved in as little as 3-6 months, but it needs commitment and a bit of effort. A life style changes need to be made but believe me it is well worth it.

In adolescence, there is a growth spurt. The physical changes that herald sexual maturity are the most important in this period. The stage in adolescence called puberty is very important since the reproductive organs (sex organs in general) become mature. This is a crucial stage as sexual curiosity is at its peak. The youth at this time is establishing a sense of identity grouping with different aspects of lifestyle, replacing parental dominance with personal built-in controls of self respect, dependability, ambition and several others.

Research findings have indicated that teenage pregnancy are increasing at an alarming rate and are likely to continue to increase by tens of thousands. The question is what are the causes of early pregnancies? Factors like migration, rapid urbanization, the changing socio-economic conditions, modernization, foreign influence, inadequate knowledge about fertility regulations, and high level of adolescent curiosity are some of the underlying causes.

Let us look at these factors closely. Rapid urbanization has accentuated various kinds of evil and crimes. Take a look at the cities; prostitution in our cities and towns has reached an unprecedented level because many young people migrate to the cities to seek employment and enjoy city life. Majority of them who cannot secure good employment end up taking poorly paid jobs like babysitting and are unable invariably to make ends meet. These girls become victims of prostitution. The main issue is that they become pregnant and often end up aborting once or twice or having unwanted babies.

It will be very useful to submit that the current socio-economic condition in the world today, retard the progress of our youth from self -fulfillment or self -actualization. Our young people are now faced with scarcity, limited choice, poverty, hunger, unemployment, poor nutrition, atrocities committed by various brutal governments, poor standards and values. These problems tend to make life meaningless, purposeless, with attendant loss of balance of reasoning, leading to poor utilization of knowledge.…

The Chronic Pain Epidemic in America Has a Flawed Approach

As of 2011, the specialty of pain management has reached a new level of monetary and social awareness. According to an NIH study recently released, over 100 million Americans suffer from chronic pain, and the total cost of this pain is well over $500 billion dollars annually.

Let’s take a look at the traditional methods of how pain management in America work. Twenty percent of office visits in America involve a narcotic prescription, with the most common being Vicodin. Narcotics are often prescribed for acute and chronic conditions. Acute conditions may include a back strain, a sporting injury, a herniated disc, or an operation. Chronic conditions may include degenerative disc disease, degenerative scoliosis, or such painful problems as diabetic neuropathy.

There is a big push in America for effective pain treatment. Undertreating pain is considered below the standard of care. So what happens? It all starts with a seemingly innocuous narcotic prescription, which all too often blossoms into repetition. Before one can blink, the narcotic prescriptions keep coming, and tolerance sets in.

There is even a condition where chronic narcotic prescriptions may exacerbate one’s pain and make it worse. This is termed opioid induced hyperalgesia (OIH). That’s sort of like taking a beta blocker to lower one’s heart rate with the end result being tachycardia! There are other significant side effects to chronic narcotics as well, such as tolerance, depression, constipation, and altered mentation.

The economy of pain management is substantial. Between doctor visits, imaging studies, narcotic prescriptions, interventional procedures, and additional therapeutic modalities, the direct cost itself is substantial. Think about this – every time a procedure is performed, it involves nursing, needles, medication, an x-ray technician, and potentially an implant. With the indirect costs, though, including lost time from work and disability, the costs become staggering.

What is wrong with our current approach to pain management? The problem is that the current treatment methods are:

1. Typically short sighted.

2. Typically too focused.

3. Too focused on narcotics.

Being short sighted is alright in a situation such as a post-operative one where short term narcotics are meant to simply help the patient while the wounds heal. But being short sighted with a patient in chronic pain will often have the patient end up in a narcotic cycle. Being focused with pain treatment might mean treating every patient with the same approach -a narcotic prescription and an injection or two.

The answer to the current problematic state of affairs is integrated medicine. This includes having different specialists treat the patient, such as pain doctors, physical therapists, chiropractors, psychologists, naturopathic doctors, life coaches, etc.

So much of pain is non-organic and may benefit from a psychological approach. This explains why 2 patients with the same painful condition respond so differently to the same treatments. Getting patients back to work and off narcotics can be possible through the combination treatments with PT and chiropractic. There are also plenty of non-narcotic medications that can help with pain such as tramadol, anti-depressants, and neuromodulating ones like gabapentin.

In a 2006 Journal of Pain article, comprehensive interdisciplinary programs were shown to be of most benefit improving pain levels, function, return to work rates, and cost containment in dealing with chronic pain. Hopefully as more pain centers begin to embrace this philosophy of dealing with chronic pain, more patients will reap the benefits of successful treatment without their lives revolving around their next narcotic dosing for pain control.…
