Benzoyl Peroxide For Treating Acne

Benzoyl Peroxide For Treating Acne

Benzoyl Peroxide is found in most over-the-counter acne treatments. It comes in many different forms such as a lotion, gel, facemask, cleansing bar or cream. It works best on mild outbreaks of acne. You can get benzoyl peroxide in concentrations of 2.5, 5, and 10 percent. If you want stronger concentrations you will need to get a prescription.

When using it, you should start with the 2.5 percent concentration. Some studies showed that 2.5 percent is not only just as effective as the stronger concentrations at fighting acne, but it is also less irritating. If this concentration doesn’t work then you can try the higher concentration.

How Does Benzoyl Peroxide Work?

Before I tell you how benzoyl peroxide works, let me first explain how acne forms. Acne is caused by a bacterium called propionibacterium acnes (aka P.acnes).Your skin has many P.acnes which is why so many people get acne. If your sebaceous follicles get clogged, then P.acnes will begin to rapidly multiply if you don’t do something to unclog sebaceous follicles.

Lucky for us, this bacterium dies when exposed to oxygen. This is where benzoyl peroxide comes in. It is a chemical which releases oxygen. When you apply it to your acne, it will be absorbed into your pores and it will then release the oxygen in your pores, killing the bacteria.

Are There Any Side Effects To This Medicine?

As with most chemicals there are some mild side effects you should be aware of before using this acne medicine:

1. IrritationIf you notice any irritation you can use it less often. If you get really severe irritation even after reducing how often you use it, then you should stop using it and try something else.

2. BleachingBe aware that benzoyl peroxide is a strong bleaching agent. Make sure your hair doesn’t touch the medicine because it can become permanently whitened.

3. DrynessIt can cause your skin to dry out so if you are using a concentration of 5 percent or higher you may want to switch to a lower concentration such as 2.5 percent.

4. AllergyIf it turns out that you are allergic to benzoyl peroxide, you need to quit using it immediately and ask a dermatologist for some other acne treatment.

Benzoyl peroxide generates free radicals which can cause your skin to become red because of oxidative stress. This is similar to sunburn. When you use it to cure your acne, make sure to avoid overexposure to the sun and be sure to use some kind of sunscreen when you go out in the daytime.

Before using any medications, be sure to consult your doctor. It is better to be safe than sorry.…

Managing Seasonal Allergies With Vitamins and Supplements

Managing Seasonal Allergies With Vitamins and Supplements

Seasonal allergy sufferers may find themselves taking antihistamines, using allergy nasal sprays and even asthma inhalers quite frequently. Many people have become concerned about taking so many medications during allergy season that they are starting to look for more natural alternatives.

This is especially true for allergy sufferers who are tired of the side effects of allergy medications. Many users experience dry mouth, fatigue, headaches and irritability. For someone that needs something every day, these bothersome side effects are just unacceptable. Some of the side effects can even be dangerous or life threatening. Dangerous side effects include high blood pressure, abnormal heart rhythms or palpitations, allergic reactions and disorders of the blood and liver.

There are a few natural antihistamines that are as effective as over the counter and prescription antihistamines, but have very few, if any, negative side effects. The main source of natural allergy relief is vitamin C. Supplements that are also very effective include green tea, grape seed extract, pycnogenol and pantothenic acid.

Pantothenic acid is vitamin B-5. It is especially effective for people who chronically suffer from nasal allergies, or allergic rhinitis. It can offer marked relief in as little as ten minutes and continue to suppress cough and mucus secretions for up to twelve hours.

Green Tea has compounds that block histamine receptors, acting much like an over the counter antihistamine. Green tea has many health benefits beyond easing allergies. The compounds in green tea are believed to inhibit the growth of cancer cells, lower total cholesterol levels and improve the ratio of good cholesterol to bad cholesterol.

Grape seed extract and pycnogenol have the similar compounds to green tea, called bioflavonoids. Bioflavonoids are plant-derived antioxidants that have many health benefits. Different bioflavonoids behave differently in the body. The green tea bioflavonoid has antihistamine properties because it blocks histamine receptors. Grape seed extract and pycnogenol do not block receptors, but inhibit the cell’s production of histamine by up to seventy percent. They are excellent sources of allergy symptom relief and also can help protect you from heart disease and high blood pressure.

Vitamin C has been the most respected illness prevention and treatment supplement for years. It is now making its way to the top of allergy treatment lists as well. Vitamin C greatly reduces the amount of histamine production in the body. So much so, that acute attacks, such as asthma, anaphylactic shock, allergic reactions to stings and bites, among other life threatening conditions, can be treated with vitamin C while you seek medical condition. Vitamin C slows down life threatening allergic reactions and can buy you valuable time when seeking help.

Vitamin C is also very helpful in treating seasonal allergies. Not only does it nearly stop histamine production, but it also helps to break down and get rid of histamines that are released, giving it the double-punch of allergy fighting power. It doesn’t stop there; vitamin C supplements reduce inflammation throughout your body. This is very beneficial, not only for your overall health, but for asthma or respiratory allergy sufferers. Keeping air passages open with daily doses of vitamin C have show to greatly reduce allergy and asthma attacks.

Using vitamins and supplements to treat your allergy symptoms can have many health benefits on top of relieving allergy symptoms. Plus, they are generally much less expensive than regular medications. Allergy symptoms can sometimes be indicative of other conditions, so make sure that you have an official allergy diagnosis and the advice of a physician before starting a vitamin and supplement regimen.…

Stop Giving Excuses About Your Excess Body Weight!

Stop Giving Excuses About Your Excess Body Weight!

Most overweight people will concede that overeating is the major cause of their problem. Some people, however, still cling in part to the old excuses. Unfortunately, while some of these causes can be a factor in a few cases, the majority do not offer a genuine explanation.

One of the most common claims used by overweight people is that of glandular trouble or a thyroid condition, but very few overweight people have anything wrong with their endocrine glands. It has been said that the only glands that work too hard in a fat person are the salivary glands.

Another claim is that of a poor metabolism. While it is probable that an overweight person’s metabolism is working differently from that of a person of normal weight, the root cause is the same and so is the treatment taking in less calories than are expended.

Two other assertions are common, often made in conAjunction with each other. Overweight people are too often ready to say that they themselves have always been overweight.

There is little evidence to suggest that obesity can be directly inherited, although some doctors believe that the tendency to become fat is greater if your parents were fat, in which case it is likely that your parents’ eating and social habits were a cause. It is not easy to break the habit of eating often and in quantity, but there is no excuse in the statement, ‘But I’ve always been fat.’ It makes it more difficult, but more imperaAtive, to aim for your ideal weight.

Another commonly used excuse is that it is inevitable to avoid weight gain during the middle age years. However, this is also not true. If a man weighed 160 pounds when he was 28 years old, there is no reason for him not to have that same weight when is 40 years old. If someone accepted their excess body weight as something that is inevitable, absolutely nothing will help them to lose that weight.

Girls also put on weight at puberty, when the rise in the level of sex hormones in the body increases the amount of fat. But all too often what was ‘puppy fat’ becomes an unnecessarily permanent feature.

Being overweight is a serious medical problem, but neither medical treatment nor costly remedies are necessary for its cure. The only way to reach ideal weight is to reduce the intake of energy sources and increase the expenditure of energy, thus depleting the fat stores in the body.

Frequently, people willingly undergo a painful course of treatment for some physical ailment because they are aware of the necessity of doing so. Although obesity is a physical ailment, and a serious one, its cure is well within the reach of anyone intelligent enough to face up to its dangers.…

The Benefits of Mental Health Counseling

There are many benefits to mental health counseling. In this article, we’ll discuss some of the most common forms of therapy. These include Cognitive behavioral therapy, Interpersonal therapy, and Group therapy. What exactly is mental health counseling? And how can it help you? It’s important to note that a mental health counselor is not a physician or psychiatrist. However, they can help you sort through your feelings and determine what treatment is best.

Group therapy

While individual therapy is beneficial for some people, many find group therapy more effective. Group therapy can help people learn to interact with others and develop healthier relationships. In addition, individuals can practice new skills and receive support from a wide range of people in a safe environment. This is especially true for people who experience social phobia or other irrational fears. Here are a few reasons why group therapy may be beneficial for you:

People can freely discuss their problems, fears, and feelings with others in a group. People may be hesitant to talk about their issues in front of others because they might feel weird talking about their feelings. However, by allowing group members to listen to one another and support each other, a person can grow. Ultimately, this helps the group as a whole. In addition, group therapy can help people feel accepted.

Individual therapy

Psychotherapy can help individuals cope with multiple conditions by fostering healthy coping mechanisms through some programs for emotional disorder palm beach gardens fl. The success rate of this type of therapy depends on several factors, including finding the right counseling center, establishing realistic expectations, and a determination to get better. Individuals who receive individual treatment are less likely to suffer relapse or develop other mental health issues. Research suggests that the benefits of psychotherapy extend well beyond the management of a person’s existing medical condition.

Individual therapy is often more effective for patients than group therapy. This type of therapy is more expensive than group therapy, and the patient lacks the peer interaction and identification that can be achieved through group therapy. Nevertheless, the benefits of this type of therapy are many. It is essential to seek a mental health counselor who can effectively work with each patient individually. If the therapist can provide a strong enough motivation, therapy results can be advantageous.

Cognitive-behavioral therapy

Cognitive-behavioral therapy is a popular approach in mental health counseling, focusing on connecting one’s thoughts and behavior. This type of therapy can be beneficial for many situations, such as anxiety and depression. In addition, because it is goal-oriented, cognitive behavioral therapy can help people better deal with the pain and stress associated with traumatic experiences. Cognitive-behavioral therapy combines psychotherapy and behavioral training and stresses the connection between one’s thoughts and personal experiences.

A cognitive therapist helps patients form a clear understanding of their thoughts and beliefs. They allow the patient recognize and change false beliefs. For example, a person might develop a dangerous thought pattern if they draw pessimistic conclusions from every event or situation. This pattern can cause a person to avoid disproving thoughts and feelings, further triggering a cycle of anxiety and depression. Cognitive-behavioral therapy can help patients overcome these problems and regain control of their lives.

Interpersonal therapy

People of all ages can benefit from interpersonal therapy. Whether you are experiencing relationship conflict or grieving a loss, interpersonal therapy is a great option. Interpersonal psychotherapy aims to help you develop and strengthen your interpersonal skills. Interpersonal therapists work with people on both current problems and developmental hurdles. For example, they may work on your present grief and loss issues related to unresolved or delayed grief. These issues can impair your quality of life.

The opening phase of therapy focuses on establishing a plan and identifying problem areas. Next, a therapist will help you identify your key relationships and ask you about your recent life experiences. They may also ask you questions about your medical history and previous therapy. Finally, they can create a list of strategies to improve that area. The patient will then work to implement these solutions in between sessions. This is a crucial part of the therapy process.

Dialectical behavior therapy

In addition to traditional mental health counseling, dialectical behavior therapy is a valuable method for treating high-risk, tough-to-treat patients. It focuses on helping people regulate their emotions and cope with stress while promoting self-respect. Although initially developed for suicidal patients, dialectical behavior therapy has since been used to enable individuals with various other mental health issues. A borderline personality disorder is one example that leads to extreme emotional distress, including intense bursts of anger and rapid mood swings.

During DBT sessions, clients learn new ways to regulate their emotions. As a result, they know how to effectively deal with stressful situations and stress. In

Military Taking New Steps in Treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Including Acupuncture

Military Taking New Steps in Treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Including Acupuncture

Acupuncture Among New Alternative Therapies Being Used Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, is an anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to a terrifying event or ordeal. Traumatic events that may trigger PTSD include violent personal assaults, natural or human-caused disasters, accidents, or military combat. U.S. service men and women are experiencing PTSD at unprecedented levels. A study in the June 2010 Archives of General Psychiatry estimated that as much as 17% of U.S. veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan have PTSD, which can cause symptoms such as depression, anger, persistent frightening thoughts and memories, sleep problems and a feeling of numbness or detachment.

To fight PTSD, the U.S. Department of Defense is employing new counseling programs and is exploring innovative and alternative treatments, including acupuncture. In 2007, a program began at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, that is believed to be the first comprehensive effort of its kind in the military combining alternative therapies and traditional treatments for soldiers with PTSD. Today, there are more than 15 programs up-and-running across all branches of the military for soldiers with PTSD. Early results from these programs have been extremely positive and build upon recent research that shows the effectiveness of acupuncture in treating PTSD.

In fact, a study was published in June 2007 in the Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease that showed that acupuncture “provided large treatment effects for PTSD” similar to those seen after counseling and therapy. The study also showed that acupuncture was able not only to reduce PTSD symptoms, but to keep reducing those symptoms even three months after treatment ended.

This effectiveness is most likely due to the fact that Oriental Medicine and acupuncture aim to heal the whole person rather than individual symptoms. Specifically, acupuncture is calming to the nervous system, which can be so shaken and traumatized by the events causing PTSD. By focusing on soothing and settling the nervous system with acupuncture and Chinese herbs, Oriental Medicine may become a more often used treatment for soldiers and civilians suffering from PTSD.…
