Some ingredients have such a remarkable, positive influence on our skin, that they deserve some extra attention. Vitamin C is one of these special ingredients and we’ll tell you more about it in this article: what results can you expect, are there different variants and how do you incorporate vitamin C into your skincare routine? Read here more about this subject so you will know for more information about this subject.

Benefits of vitamin C for the skin

As you can already read, vitamin C has several benefits for your skin. For example, it fades visible sun damage and superficial pigmentation spots, refreshes ee dull and blotchy skin and acts as a powerful antioxidant. This means that the skin is protected against irritation, inflammation and pollution. In addition, vitamin C aids the natural healing process, causing redness after pimples to fade. It also increases the effectiveness of a sunscreen product and provides the skin with better protection against UV radiation.

Ascorbic acid: the best vitamin C

Ascorbic acid – also called L-ascorbic acid – is the best known of all types of vitamin C. Ascorbic acid has been widely studied for its benefits to the skin and is often found in carefully formulated skin care products. Ascorbic acid in high concentrations (15% or higher) is ideal for treating stubborn skin problems. Read here more about vitamin C and that’s good to know.

Other variants of vitamin C

In addition to ascorbic acid, sodium ascorbyl phosphate, ascorbyl palmitate, retinyl ascorbate, tetrahexyl decylascorbate and magnesium ascorbyl phosphate are the most stable and effective for the skin. However, these derived forms of vitamin C work better in a mix with other good antioxidants and cell communicating ingredients. Consider ingredients such as green tea, retinol and/or niacinamide.

Fast results

Vitamin C does not necessarily have to be applied in a high concentration to get results. Research shows that concentrations as low as 0.6% are already antioxidant and anti-aging. A product with a low dose of vitamin C can certainly repair and nourish the skin, if the product contains even more effective ingredients.

Do remember that antioxidants, including vitamin C, lose their effectiveness when exposed to oxygen and light. Therefore, use products packaged in opaque tubes or bottles (preferably with a pump) and avoid products in jars. This way the product keeps its optimal effect. Dropper bottles and cosmetic jars wholesale are very suitable for this purpose.
